How To Pass Security+ In Less Than 2 Months
*Updated for 2024 for SY0-701* Thank you for coming to my channel! Please subscribe for more tech and vlogs if you haven't already yet. I started studying last year as a pass time but started taking it seriously in Jan. Took me a while to figure out how I learned best but I learn best by diversifying my study materials. I officially studied for a month and a half. Started on January 1st and tested on February 14th at home instead of at a testing center. So here is how I studied: Started with printing out the Comptia Objectives. Know the objectives like the back of your hand. Next, I purchased Jason Dion's course on Udemy. Also got his study guide printed out at Staples. I needed it in order to follow along. I would then watch 3 sections a day. Before I watched the next three sections I would re-read the previous 3 sections in the study guide. I watched him at normal speed. After finishing, I watched Professor Messer's videos and I would then compare what I didn't know from the objectives to what I did know. I then watched Exam Cram from Inside Cloud and Security at 1.75x speed. Around this time I started taking practice exams on Pocketprep, the Comptia app, and Exam Compus. Professor Messer has free quizzes on his site called "Take 10". I started out making 40% and ended up making 70% within a couple of weeks. 2 weeks before my exam I bought Andrew Remdayal's Udemy course. He's very hands-on and gave some exam advice that I can attest to. I watched his course at 1.75x speed. Once done, I went over the objectives again. I struggled with certain sections so I then decided to do something I was trying to avoid- that's read a book. 1 week before the exam I read Mike Meyers' Comptia Security+ Certification Passport, Sixth Edition. I completed that and filled in the rest of the blanks with ChatGPT, Sunny Classroom, and Google. Final Tips: Join groups on Facebook, Linkedin, Reddit, and Discord. Reddit was my go-to for inspiration and information. We feel alone while studying but we are not. These groups help remind us of that. When I passed I posted it to my personal Facebook page and got maybe 3 congrats but I posted it to Jason Dion's group and got over 200 likes- one comment was from Jason himself! Find your tribe.
