HOW TO MAKE A LATHE TOOL FROM SCRAP METAL // BEGINNER METAL LATHE PROJECT // TOOLS MADE FROM SCRAP

#TMC2020 The chuck key that came with my 1936 South Bend Lathe was pretty worn out by the time I took ownership a few years ago. I've always been a fan of upcycling tools, and tools made from scrap. So, I figured that making a new lathe tool from scrap metal would be a perfect beginner metal lathe project to make a video about. This is also falls into the category of milling machine projects for beginners. It must because I'm definitely a noob! Instead of a typical unboxing video, I figured that it would be best to put these new fixtures to work! These tools are super useful and really basic, but can provide highly precise indexing of parts when used with a milling machine or even a standard shop drill press. For use with a drill press, I suggest clamping these blocks into a small drill press-style vise.
