Well its a story with some history that developed over two years, so I can't really explain it here. But, Chinese is not the only language I plan to learn... and The very short version of the story is I want to know/understand the culture, the people, the food, and be able to speak with them about these things in their language. I will probably visit the country one day as well, but that is not really the end goal. The end goal is understanding and creating friends from another place. Interestingly, the US state department ranked Chinese as one of the hardest languages for English speakers to learn. I didn't know that when I picked it... but it is consistent with what I said in the video, so I find that amusing.
