How To Get More Video (Videography) Clients In 2020 - 5 Life Hacks For Videographers
Why is it that I can sign over 15k of new projects in the last 3 weeks but other Videographers are still struggling? - In this video I'll show you how to get more video (videography) clients in 2020 by giving you these 5 life hacks for videographers.
If you haven't clicked play yet then I'm Ross Welch and in 2 years I went from working as a filmmaker/ videographer, out of my parents living room to owning a 6 figure production company, a studio, a house, and employing a team of people.
You can be the best videographer in the world but if you don't understand the world of business, then it still won't work.
When I started out as a videographer, I did just that, focused 100% on videography and was left wondering why I wasn't getting any paid video work. Being a creative videographer is important to attract attention but combining this with business knowledge is the recipe for success.
Is now the best time to be a filmmaker or videographer?
YES. I've heard stories about people struggling to get videography work but I see countless opportunities to support businesses who need to get clients through the doors, and what better way to do this than through video right?
Personally, the first few months of lockdown in the UK were quiet for videography work but I have a number of clients on video retainers so I wasn't worried.
In the past 4 weeks, I've now secured over 15k of new projects all from businesses who are re-opening or wanting to reach new customers.
(It's not a brag btw, I just needed to be transparent about the contrast from people who are getting no work vs how I'm getting so much).
Here is literally the process I have used to get more video clients which surely can't differ to anyone else(?)
1. Outreach - don't sell, just offer a helping hand initially to spark conversation, position yourself as the best friend.
2. Offer a reopening package or 'corona measures video' so their clients know they are keeping them safe and can re-visit (We are selling so many of these customer journey videos)
3. Target local businesses because everyone wants a sense of community at the moment
4. If they say no, keep the details on file to contact in 3-6months
5. Make your retainers super attractive with a one time offer to support businesses at the current time.
Some businesses/ video clients will be driven on price at the moment which makes it harder for more established videographers but really easy for beginner videographers to start building a company. 🔥💸
