An AED looks for a rhythm called Ventricular Fibrillation or V-Fib/VF. If it finds that rhythm, it will charge up and call for a shock. The operator will then makes sure no one is touching the victim, and press a Shock Button. The AED will send an electric shock through the heart to try and stop the heart, in hopes of the heart starting up again in a normal rhythm. It is like a reset button.
