How the 'Flawless' Red Ball Speedrun Record got DESTROYED

This is the story of how one of Red Ball's most difficult strategies, sub 20 train, was finally pulled off in a world record speedrun. Check out the video explaining the death warp glitch - https://youtu.be/pV1YMVzOGI8 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the 9th of September, 2020, a speedrunner by the name of rare_eg set a phenomenal Red Ball 12 levels speedrun world record with a time of 3:07.900. This run featured extremely refined movement, extremely difficult strategies, and effectively zero visible mistakes. In November, I released a video called "Red Ball - World Record Progression" which covered the history of the speedgame from its origins back in 2009 all the way up to eg's amazing accomplishment of 3:07. Many in the community though that this run was destined to stand for years without ever being beaten, with eg so far ahead of the rest of the competition. However, in January of 2021, an enormous spike in the interest of red ball speedrunning generated largely through the YouTube algorithm multiplied the amount of active red ball runners almost by 30 times at its peak. Many newcomers to the community started to get really good at the game, with speedrunner Caramel coming within grabbing distance of the world record just a month after first picking up the game. Around this time, developments with the "Sub 20 Train" strategy found in level 11 of the game began to take root, with both the consistency and speed of the strategy seeing massive improvements. The prospects of pulling off the trick in a full game run were laughed at back when I first pulled it off, but with the consistency reaching around 1/20 amongst the game's best runners, any runner with enough time, luck, and dedication could potentially have the ability to incorporate it into a new world record, with eg being the first to take on this challenge.
