With this video, my goal is to be as transparent as possible for those that are looking to have careers in composition (that are “outside” the realm of commercial media). I also just think it's fun to compare notes with others for those that are as open as I am about these numbers. Keep in mind that I live right outside New York City, so while the income I make is considerably higher than the $67,521 US median income for 2023, it’s still not quite high enough to live comfortably in a large metropolitan area like New York City.
