How Mom Made Clothes 🔥Sewing In A Frontier Cabin, 1910 Singer Sewer
In a frontier cabin, we are making our clothes. No electricity, no modern amenities. Just a 1910 Singer sewing machine, run by a foot powered treadle. A true pioneer woman, our dear friend, Susan, is teaching a novice like me the ins-and-outs of how to make your own clothes with one of these historic & bomb-proof old machines.
I am a novice. She is an expert. With her wisdom, her lifetime of knowledge, we just might be able to sew together a floor length apron. One patterned from the 1800s, using post-Civil War fabrics. We are embarking on a months-long journey toward making a piece of clothing from scratch, using historic tools. And my special Christmas present? A Singer Sewer of my very own from 1924.
