Making their way upstream, they follow the imprinted scent of their birthplace. Along the way are numerous obstacles – including grizzly bears. As the forest giants prepare to hibernate, they eat tons of salmon. The nitrogen-rich leftovers feed smaller mammals but also, amazingly, trees.
