How Do You Use Spot Metering for Stunning Night Shots?
Join me on a journey through the city of Lincoln, with a special focus on capturing the mesmerizing ornamental lamps along East Bight. Armed with my Olympus EM1 Mark II and a 45mm f/1.8 lens, I delve into the art of night photography. I use spot metering to perfectly expose the highlights and, due to the warm orange cast of the lamps, I may convert some images to black and white to enhance their mood. For those striking compositions, I also experiment with taking two shots to keep the lamp highlights under control. East Bight, a historic road in Lincoln, is steeped in rich Roman heritage. The name “Bight” refers to a bend or indentation, reflecting the road's unique layout. East Bight is a place where ancient history meets modern charm, leading directly to the magnificent Newport Arch, the oldest Roman arch in the UK still used by traffic today. This picturesque location, with its atmospheric lighting, is a photographer's dream. --------- Social -------- https://www.instagram.com/dawleylad/
