Homemade Front End Loader Build on a Garden Tractor - PART 2 - Bucket and Hydraulics
As promised this is Part 2 of my front end loader build. It contains modifications that I made to overcome problems within the build process. I hope this video will give you ideas (inspiration) that you can use on your own build projects. Part 3 will be coming next and will be devoted to testing out what this loader can and cannot do.
Some are asking me for details about fittings and cylinders - here are some details and links below:
I use standard or generic hoses that come with male NPT fittings at both ends. At one end of the hose the fitting swivels and at the other end the fitting is rigid. I usually buy standard hoses at AGRI SUPPLY. Here is a link to an example of what I buy in the 1/4" size - https://www.agrisupply.com/hydraulic-hose-swivel-end/p/86646/ .
As for fittings on the cylinders for this build - SAE6 male to 1/4" NPT female. I usually get most of my fittings from SURPLUS CENTER . Here is a link - https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Adapters-Fittings/SAE-O-ring-to-NPT/SAE-Male-to-NPT-Female-Swivel---Right-Angle/ .
As for the spool valve connections - The valve assembly had 1/2" BSPP ports. I used 1/2" NPT reducer adapter to 1/4" NPT. Here is a link - https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Adapters-Fittings/NPT-to-NPT/NPT-Female-to-NPT-Male---Bushing/ .
I did not use any JIC fittings on this build. I removed and did not use the fittings that came on the cylinders which were SAE6 to JIC.
Cylinder item number is : 9- 16123. Link to cylinders - https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Cylinders/Double-Acting-Hydraulic-Cylinders/2-5x14x1-25-Double-Acting-Hydraulic-Cylinder-Bailey-322358-9-16123.axd .
