HO Train Layout at the Model Railroad Club of Buffalo
I visited the Model Railroad Club of Buffalo for their "open house" open to the general public. It was fun watching them run the trains. They were more serious hobbyists, running the trains at slow, realistic speeds and operating switches and moving train cars from yard to yard. Information about their club: "The model Railroad Club of Buffalo is the nations 3rd oldest club featuring a 600 square foot O scale layout and a 1200 square foot HO scale layout. Our club layouts have seen significant changes as a result of work on the building the layout is located in. This is a good thing and has provided us the opportunity to make some changes. Our next open house should be an interesting one for both returning and new visitors alike! In the mean time, if you are interested in joining the club, there has never been a better time since parts of the layout are being rebuilt from the benchwork on up! The extensive HO Layout is single track with passing sidings and is equipped with DCC. The railroad is designed for realistic operation with dispatcher issued block occupancy permission via two way radios. Several yards, branchlines and industries add diversity to the lengthy point to point mainline run. Industries include steel, coal, lumber, power, chemicals and grain. Three large staging yards provide a bountiful source of different trains for railfanning variety out on the main line."
