History of science through instruments and experiments
How can we learn about the historical development of science through scientific instruments that are preserved in museums and collections? How can the replication of historical scientific experiments offer us insights?
Scientific instruments are the backbone of science. They help us observe, experiment, measure, calculate, and model the world around us. These tools sit at the intersection between the history of science and the history of technology, and negotiate between scientific knowledge and processes, innovation and industrial production. They are not only tools of scientific research but also tools of science dissemination and teaching.
This lecture is organised as part of Science Gallery Bengaluru's 7th exhibition-season Sci560. Sci560 is supported by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.
