Dozens of new race shoes are releasing this year, and there's more choice than ever when it comes to picking a marathon shoe. As such, there are a few alternative perspectives on whether pace is important when choosing a racer. In this video, I clarify why pace does indeed matter when deciding what shoe you'll buy to race your next marathon.

Here's the study I cited when talking about how racing shoes can improve running economy (make your fast speed feel easier) for recreational runners. The test was done using 6 minute treadmills intervals, which as I mention in the video, is much a different type of running from a 3+ hour marathon where comfort starts to become more important than top speed/running economy. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/360437139_Carbon_Plate_Shoes_Improve_Metabolic_Power_and_Performance_in_Recreational_Runners
