HDR in photography - how to use it to your advantage (unlike you think!)
Hardly any other term in photography has caused as many misunderstandings as HDR. This is mainly due to the fact that the term HDR has been redefined again and again over time and used to describe different and not always aesthetically pleasing results. With this video I would like to clear up these misunderstandings, explain the individual meanings and contexts and show you why HDR will play an increasingly important role in the future and, in my opinion, will soon be an integral part of our photography workflows! You should watch this video on an HDR-capable TV or monitor (e.g. MacBook Pro, many OLED Windows notebooks, some monitors). Please activate the HDR display in the display settings of the operating system. If the video is played in HDR, YouTube should display “HDR” in the bottom bar; on a TV, a small HDR logo will appear when the video starts. If this is not the case, you are only watching the video in SDR, in which case you will certainly learn a lot, but the visual effect of HDR will not be clearly visible.1 Links: - Native German version of this video: https://gwegner.de/know-how/hdr-in-der-fotografie/ - My newsletter: https://lrtimelapse.com/newsletter - Shitty HDR on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/shittyHDR/ - Good article about the output HDR feature in Lightroom Classic: https://photographylife.com/lightroom-hdr-display - Vesa display certified monitors: https://displayhdr.org/certified-products/#tab-1400 - Good, professional monitor for photo and video editing: https://amzn.to/3WC0Eqz 00:00 - Start 00:41 - Dynamic Range 03:00 - And what about HDR? 05:35 - HDR Displays 07:43 - Lightroom Demo 11:44 - Editing Example 13:53 - Input vs. Output HDR 14:34 - Software Support 16:28 - My Conclusion
