Guide Tones - part 2 (5ths and 9ths)
In this video we look at the 5ths and 9ths through the sequence of Autumn Leaves (A-section). As these degrees are less 'chord-defining' we can alter some of them to create tension on the dominant chord, but also to create smoother, more chromatic lines. It's a great way to add more 'fruity', interesting notes to make your playing sound more sophisticated.
Of course, all this can be applied to other sequences that include 2-5-1s or cycle of 5ths progressions.
