Government to create 10,000 more apprenticeships in bid to boost economy

The government has pledged to create thousands more "life changing" apprenticeships in a bid to grow the economy. Skills Minister Baroness Jacqui Smith says a skilled workforce is essential to rebuild the NHS and reduce waiting lists, the shift to green energy and building new homes. She also promised a review of "red tape" on the qualifications needed to enrol on apprenticeships, saying it was holding some employers back from offering apprentice opportunities.
