An eight minute 'Glorious' Gaynor experience with her Grammy winning #1 smash 'I Will Survive'. Not the record company's first choice for an A side single; that honor went to the cover version 'Substitute' which had been a hit for South African band Clout and all girl Aussie group Peaches. DJ's and radio programmers discovered 'I will survive' on the B side of Gloria's single and the rest is history. Polydor switched the sides and 'I will survive' became a #1 smash in Canada, Britain, America and a Top 10 hit on a dozen other countries including Australia where it spent a sturdy 7 weeks at #5, and a total of 10 weeks in the Top 10. Strangely, that whirlwind of success was not immediately followed up, and only 'I am what i am' a few years later would bring Gloria Gaynor back into the spotlight. 'I will survive' is a pretty wonderful signature tune for any singer to have.....
