Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on the sidelines of Europe’s largest security conference, the Munich Security Conference, to discuss Russia’s nearly three-year war. Vance says the U.S. wants “durable, lasting peace” for Ukraine. But as Vincent McAviney explains, European leaders fear that U.S. President Donald Trump may go to any length to get a deal done – including appeasing Russian President Vladimir Putin. U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats remain a top issue for Canadians. And there are new signs they are also upending Canada’s political landscape. On Friday, Conservative MPs gathered in Ottawa for their first caucus meeting since December. As Mackenzie Gray reports, it’s happening as new numbers suggest their huge lead in the polls is shrinking. The economic chill from Trump’s tariffs is being felt worldwide. Trump has repeatedly characterized the EU as a bad trading partner. And as Candice Cole reports, the EU is warning of an immediate response. Fears of a collapse in the Gaza ceasefire deal appear to be subsiding. Hamas confirms it plans to release three hostages on Saturday. Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners will also be released. Rebuilding Gaza without displacing its people is the goal of neighbouring Arab countries.
