'Ghost Army' vet George Dramis (Full Interview)
George R. Dramis joined the Army in 1943 and went on to become one of 1100 soldiers assigned to the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, later to become known as "The Ghost Army”, famous for their deceptive operations.
This unit of specialized troops was tasked with the unique mission to impersonate other Allied units in an effort to deceive and disrupt the German military actions. This tactical deception included the use of inflatable tanks, sound trucks, and fake radio transmissions.
The story of this unit was kept secret after the war and not declassified until 1996. George R. Dramis sat down with us to tell us his tale of drama and deception.
