Figure out the setting:
-Where the story takes place
-When (year, month, time of day, etc.)
Dialogue: Conversation between 2 or more people
-Gives us deeper insight into the plot and the characters
-Can be a source of GED test questions

General rule of thumb: The word an comes before words that start with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u)
-Losing track of the different characters is a common reason students struggle with reading comprehension.
-A good strategy is to try to think of ways to tell each character apart.
