First and foremost a huge thank you to the FTR safety team who helped me at the finish line when I got my heat stroke, you guys are the best and I cannot thank you enough for taking care of me the way you did. This race was really horrible for me, definitely the worse I’ve had. I started feeling bad the night before and didn’t sleep much, then during the practice lap I felt I was not myself and by the end of it I felt as tired as if I’ve already done the race, I was very weak and it should have been a sign for me not to participate to the race, that would have been the reasonable thing to do. But as a stubborn mf, here I go take the start. After about 5min into the race (8min mark on the video) there’s a big salad and everyone is on a stand still in the middle of a palmetto patch, there is a bit of a confusion and I don’t know who is where at that point. Going again after some gardening, and I’m just going with the flow with no drive whatsoever, I’m just sitting there, I have no rhythm, at that point I knew it was going to be a long and painful afternoon. I somewhat survive the first lap but I was already pretty much cooked starting the second one, this is when I started seing stars and be very weak, to the point I couldn’t stand on my bike anymore so I knew something was very wrong. At this point I’m just trying to finish as fast as possible to end my misery. When I reached the finish line I had a hard time to get off my bike and then the heat stroke hit. After a few minutes and with the priceless assistance of the FTR safety team I was able to stand again and rest for a few hours before heading back home. A special thanks to Dan’s wife Vicky who brought me back to my car, took care of me and checked on me later, and to Jeff who brought my bike back to my car and loaded it up, your help was priceless guys. See you all in Ormond beach, for a better one I hope.
