Visiting Fort Bowie National Historic Site - A Journey Through History | Nestled in the southeast corner of Arizona, near the city of Wilcox, lies the Fort Bowie National Historic Site. This historic gem sits in close proximity to the Chiricahua National Monument, another destination on our itinerary that we will explore tomorrow. As we traverse these rugged landscapes, we will delve into the rich history of Fort Bowie and Apache Pass, lands once the homeland of the Chiricahua Apache. Exploring Fort Bowie The Fort Bowie National Historic Site is a place where history and nature intertwine seamlessly. Originally established in 1862, Fort Bowie was built to safeguard the precious waters of Apache Spring and to protect settlers and soldiers from the hostilities of the Apache Wars.
