Forehand Roll in Pickleball | Full Breakdown (Tips, Tricks, Technique)

Another week, another instructional breakdown, and this time we’re breaking down one of the most important shots in the game: the forehand roll. Gotta have it! This shot should become second nature as you level up your game. In this video, I go through some key details I’ve learned so far about this shot — from the technique, to when and where to hit it, and most importantly, why variation is the secret sauce that takes your forehand roll from decent to dangerous. We also talk about how to disguise the roll to keep your opponent guessing — whether you’re rolling it inside out, middle, or even sharp angle. We’ll also get into the difference between a forehand roll vs a forehand volley, because yes — they’re not the same. There’s so much nuance in the timing, contact point, paddle angle, and even how much spin you’re trying to generate. The deception game is super important here — I’ll show you how to make it look like you're hitting it one way, but then hit it another way to keep your opponents guessing. Some stuff that isn't covered in the video but that is worth mentioning: Using your non-dominant hand for balance, adjusting your wrist lag and follow-through for different spin/control, how to hit a heavier vs lighter roll based on your opponent’s positioning, etc. Massive shoutout to y’all for all the feedback on the last few instructional vids.
