Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 13C: Boundary Layer Displacement Thickness. In this 12-minute video, Professor Cimbala defines the laminar boundary layer displacement thickness and discusses its effect on fluid flows. He shows a very practical example in which displacement thickness is used in the design of a wind tunnel test section. He also briefly discusses momentum thickness which is similar to displacement thickness except in terms of linear momentum rather than mass flow. This video incorporates material from Section 10-6 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala, Edition 4.
