First ride: All-new CFMOTO 800MT a quirky yet compelling adventure tourer | Hard Test | INFO MOTO

We’ve had a very close eye on CFMOTO’s all-new, KTM-powered 800MT since it was first revealed early last year. It represents a new entry-point into the booming adventure touring segment thanks to its sharp pricing, and a new era for the ambitious Chinese bike manufacturer. This week, we finally got the chance to test the CFMOTO 800MT, taking it on a two-day adventure through some of Australia’s finest roads and tracks. We didn’t hold back, seriously putting the bike to the test to see if it is indeed the hugely significant new model it promises to be. What we like: - Unmatched value - All-day comfort, versatility - Sharp styling and fit-and-finish Room for improvement: - Sometimes unwieldy due to weight - Snatchy throttle - No traction control 2022 CFMOTO 800MT pricing and specs CFMOTO Australia has officially released its new 800MT adventure bike with two variants, Sport and Touring, priced rideaway from $12,990 and $14,490, respectively. The base CFMOTO 800MT Sport will be exclusively finished with a Starlight Black livery, while the higher spec Touring is distinguished by an Ocean Blue colour scheme. The CFMOTO 800MT is the brand’s second non-LAMS model to be released Down Under, following the 700CL-X naked bike, as part of its joint venture with Austrian bikemaker KTM. Motivating the new adventure bike is a KTM-sourced 799cc parallel twin, tuned to produce 70kW and 77Nm, and backed up by a slipper clutch and ride-by-wire system. Standard kit on both 800MT Sport and 800MT Touring is a 19-litre fuel tank, fully adjustable KYB suspension, crash bars, an adjustable windscreen and J.Juan brakes. Both bikes also features cruise control, fog lights, USB charging, LED lights and a 7.0-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity and satellite-navigation. While the 800MT Sport uses cast wheels measuring 19- and 17-inches front-to-rear, the 800MT touring benefits from wire-spoked tubeless wheels. Also unique to the 800MT Touring is standard tyre-pressuring monitoring, an up/down quickshifter, handguards, bash plate and steering damper.
