Finding Simple Nightscapes - Milky Way Photography

I get asked all the time how I find locations to shoot nightscape images. Surprisingly I don't often go in search of grand bucket list locations to shoot. I'd rather look beyond the obvious and attempt to find a "diamond in the rough" so to speak.
