If you’re looking for a simple portrait concept that has layers of depth then the golden era of film noir is for you. On the surface it might appear to be just high contrast, black and white photography but add in a little bit of planning, appropriate styling, some careful lighting and film noir style images can be very dramatic. In this live photo session, Gavin Hoey will take you through some simple photo ideas that are loosely styled on the classic film noir concepts of low key lighting and a lone, dark character.
