Are you impatient as an entrepreneur? In this video, I outline the basics you need to master first when you’re building your own business.
I know many entrepreneurs who want to jump right into sophisticated advertising and complicated sales funnels. But I think you should be consistently making $5,000 to $10,000 per month before you think about launching new services or scaling your business.
Before you can play in the big leagues, you have to get really good at the basics:
1. Perfect your offer. If you’re not winning clients, your offer isn’t interesting enough. What tangible, positive outcomes will your customer get out of working with you? What does your audience want? What end results can you promise, and how is your offer different and better than the offers of your competitors?
2. Find your audience. Building your own business is contingent on your ability to attract clients who want what you’re selling. You may need to look for a different audience or reshape your offer. Get to know your audience and what they want. And meet potential clients where they are.
3. Consistently generate leads. Imagine you’re going fishing and your prospects are fish. Go where the fish are biting and reel them in by capturing their attention and offering them what they’re looking for.
If you’re building your own business, pace yourself. Don’t try to skip steps. Get your offer just right, pique the interest of your audience, and nurture a steady stream of leads. Focus on the basics and start with a firm foundation, so you’ll be ready to surge ahead in the future.
