Fasching Parade in Munich

Every year in February, the city of Munich turns into Party land and celebrates the festivity of Carnival. In the German state of Bavaria, Carnival is called “Fasching.” We have attended the Fasching in Munich. We have been to the Carnival in Cologne, Germany, and also in Lucerne, Switzerland, Obviously, it’s not like the famous Carnival of Cologne, but still, we enjoy it and visit it every year. The Parade in 2020 started from Kreuzstrasse near Sendlinger Tor and then passed by the famous pedestrian zone Neuhauserstrasse, Kauferinger Straße to Marienplatz. We attended our 2nd Fasching Parade in Munich in 2023 and this time Parade had a different route coming from Isartor to Marienplatz via Frauenstraße and Blumenstraße and took a longer route to pass through Marienplatz. In 2024, we have attended the parade at Blumenstraße. It's highly recommended to attend Fasching Parade in Munich. The Biggest one in Munich was in 2023 with more than 90 groups marched through Munich Old Town. The pedestrian has been blocked with a rope from both sides and the way in the center has been created for the participants. The crowd was standing behind the rope. The event is organized every year by a club “Damische Ritte” which means foolish Knight. There are usually around 53 groups with over 1000 members participating in the parade but in 2023 there were 90 groups. To find the best place to watch the carnival., we came around 12 PM to Kreuzstrasse and selected the perfect spot on the footpath to welcome and cheer the Parade. The parade group included big-themed trucks associated with different musical bands, fictional movies and characters, historical associations, and political parties. .. .. ..
