Exploring the Universe & the Future of Sky Observation • 4MOST | Roelof de Jong
The Multi-Object Spectrograph 4MOST is being planned and constructed under the leadership of AIP (Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam). This is designed to simultaneously analyze the light from thousands of celestial objects and will collect valuable data at the VISTA survey telescope of the European Southern Observatory (ESO). With 4MOST, astronomers aim to achieve various research objectives, including creating a three-dimensional map of our galaxy, learning more about exceptionally old stars, gaining insights into dark energy, dark matter, black holes, and understanding the accelerated expansion of the universe. In the video, following the scientific presentation, you'll get a glimpse into the integration hall at AIP, where 4MOST is currently undergoing testing.
