Expired Film, 27 years after its use by date! | Konica VX400
While helping out @mr.negative_film_store some video content for his channel (seriously, go check it out), I got the itch to shoot a roll of Konica VX 400 I scored at the Box Hill Camera Market. This roll was something special, it had a process date of 1998. Yeah, you read that right, pre-millennium magic. What’s even cooler? It looks like it was made for the German market, plenty of Deutsch scribbled on the box. I shoot it at 100 ISO
Now, here’s something most folks don’t know. Konica wasn’t just some flash-in-the-pan brand. They were a serious player in the 35mm game, cranking out film, development processors, and printing tech. Sure, they didn’t have the heavyweight clout of Kodak or Fujifilm, but their film quality spoke for itself. Back in the day, they sold their film and paper under the name Sakura, which means Cherry Blossom in English. A poetic nod to their Japanese roots. There’s history in every frame, and that’s what makes shooting film like this so damn satisfying.
