In this video, I go over everything you need to know about shoulder anatomy and physiology, in order to maximize the effectiveness of your workouts. I describe all the seventeen different muscles that are directly involved in moving the glenohumeral joint (the shoulder), and break it down by movement:
Shoulder Flexion: Coracobrachialis, Biceps Brachii (long head), Pectoralis Major (clavicular head) Shoulder Abduction: Supraspinatus, Serratus Anterior, Biceps (short head)
Shoulder Extension: Latissimus dorsi, Teres major, Triceps Brachii (Long Head)
Shoulder Elevation: Trapezius (descending part), Levator Scapulae
Shoulder Retraction: Rhomboid Major, Rhomboid Minor, Trapezius (transverse part)
Shoulder Protraction: Serratus Anterior, Pectoralis Minor
Shoulder External Rotation: Infraspinatus, Teres Minor
Shoulder Internal Rotation: Subscapularis, Pectoralis Major
