English in a Minute: To Be Game
Welcome to English in a Minute  You probably already know what “game” is as a noun. But what does it mean to be game?   D: Anna, my pickleball partner can’t make it to tonight’s match. That means we can’t play. And that means we lose the championship!   A: Well, if you need a last-minute pickleball partner, I’m game!   D: Have you even won a pickleball trophy?   A: No. So, it’s time! If someone says, “I’m game,” it means they are willing or ready to do something. They will do whatever plan or suggestion you have. In this case, though, I’m not sure if Dan is game for having Anna as his pickleball partner.
