The Battle of Bannockburn was fought on 23–24 June 1314, between the army of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, and the army of King Edward II of England, during the First War of Scottish Independence. It was a decisive victory for Robert Bruce and formed a major turning point in the war, which ended 14 years later with the de jure restoration of Scottish independence under the Treaty of Edinburgh–Northampton. For this reason, the Battle of Bannockburn is widely considered a landmark moment in Scottish history. 00:00 Introduction 01:08 Robert the Bruce takes power 01:44 The English campaign 02:14 The Scottish force 02:42 The build up to the battle 03:54 The Scottish position 04:38 The English march on the Scottish 05:08 1 on 1 Combat 06:10 The Scottish engage the English Cavalry 07:46 The Main English army forms up over night 08:27 The armies prepare for battle 09:28 The Earl of Gloucester attacks 10:10 The Battle begins 11:05 The English longbow men attempt to flank 12:04 The tide of the battle turns 12:43 Edward II retreats 12:55 The English rout 13:51 Casualties 14:07 Aftermath
