Einstein Lectures: Maryna Viazovska - The sphere packing problem
The Einstein Lectures 2023 were dedicated to the mathematical sphere-packing problem. How to pack spheres – such as oranges stacked in a pyramid – as close together as possible?
This year’s speaker, Ukrainian mathematician Maryna Viazovska, holds the Chair of Number Theory at EPF Lausanne. In 2022, she received a Fields Medal, often described as the "Nobel Prize in Mathematics", for her work on the sphere-packing problem in 8 and 24 dimensions. www.einsteinlectures.unibe.ch
