DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro vs 4: Truth Behind the Hype
In this video, I compare the newly released DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro with its predecessor, the DJI Osmo Action 4. While the Action 5 Pro has been hyped as a major upgrade, I found some key issues with its image processing and performance that don’t quite live up to the marketing claims. If you’re considering upgrading, watch this video first to see if the changes are really worth it! Don’t get caught up in the hype. This honest review will show you what many others won't. I feel this is a mic drop moment as @PetaPixel agrees with me on the 5 pro normal profile: https://youtu.be/n-eWOyk-800?si=zP5JJoKBb4GAxY77&t=314 *Reasons to upgrade:* - Dual DJI Wireless Mic 2 support (only 1 mic supported on Osmo Action 4) - If you ride a lot at night it can be slightly better but not a big improvement - Better touch screen responsiveness - Bigger screens with OLED technology are better quality - New batteries that you can also use and buy for the Action 4 *Reasons to get or stay with the Osmo Action 4:* - Normal color mode looks a LOT better - Price - Pretty close to identical performance shooting in LOG - New 1950 mAh batteries can be bought and used with the Action 4 too - Records higher bitrate than the newer camera for some reason. Higher = Less artifacting and other compression problems. Here is a good video from @TamaraGabrielUK about it: https://youtu.be/RKXNYoVyKIY?si=FwuNztDghxgzPZcw&t=320 Also these modes only work in 16:9 aspect ratio which I never use. I always shoot mine at 4:3 because the horizontal resolution is idential and there is only the benefit of getting much more top down resolution giving more room to play with the footage in the edit. *CONCLUSION:* This camera does not deserve the "pro" marker in my opinion for the following reasons: - Color profile is directed towards the 'average consumer' who only cares that the image is bright and colorful. - Bitrate on this camera is HALF the bitrate of the Osmo Action 4. - Promised "HDR" comes with processing not actual sensor dynamic range so it's misleading at best. - SuperNight footage is slightly better but oversharpened. Do I recommend this camera: No. Buy the 4 if you agree and save some cash. ps. This is not me hating on DJI I have 4 DJI cameras and 2 drones myself. But this is a BAD direction they are taking and I truly hope they will step back and fix this trickery. At least give us some more options in settings. 0:00 Why are we here? 0:40 Daytime Normal Color Mode 5:19 Daytime D-Log M 6:12 Daytime D-Log M with LUT 7:35 Night-time test 10:35 Supernight mode test 12:10 Conclusion 💌 Contact & Discord info: https://linktr.ee/patchedbandit 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/patchedbandit ⭐️ You can support my work for only €0.99/month 😊👍 ⭐️ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6hGP2VIz2D_m4ZTpKGmLPA/join ⭐️ Membership perks: ⭐️ ▸ Early access to new videos ⭐️ ▸ Loyalty badges ⭐️ ▸ Custom Emojis in comments ⭐️ ▸ Member perks on Discord
