DIY MoCo
My circa-2024 recreation of an old-school motion control setup for filming back-lit graphics.
This rig is very similar in capability to the horizontal animation cameras used by Robert Abel and Associates to produce their backlit masterpieces starting in the early 1970s.
The movements recorded herein are simply to demonstrate the movement of all of the axes, they don't really make sense in terms of lensing a shot of something...
The horizontal camera rig has computer-controlled movement of the Fries/Mitchell 35mm camera on the Z, pan, and tilt axes, as well as focus, shutter control, and per/frame film advance/rewind.
The artwork mover has computer-controlled movement of X, Y, and roll axes and DMX control of the brightness of the 3200K-5000K LED-backlit artwork platen.
My wife is this close to having me committed, and wonders when and if she'll ever be able to park her car in our garage again (never).
