Design as Managed Serendipity / Dave Snowden / Intersection17
http://intersectionconf.com/ Popularised forms of design thinking have tended to a linear, workshop heavy process and have been criticised as reducing an artisan capability to a manufacturing process. In this keynote, Dave Snowden will reflect on the current and future state of design thinking from a complexity science perspective. He will address issues of understanding the dispositional state of the organisation within which design takes place and elaborate modern methods of distributed ethnography and distributed ideation. This includes a focus on re-purposing existing capabilities for unarticulated needs. Design then becomes an emergent property of the system as a whole allowing for managed serendipity.
