Design and build of a 3d printed Roskopf watch, Part 7, closer look at the escapement
I am designing, 3D printing and building a replica of a Roskopf watch with 3D printing
Design and prototype of the escapement
There is a good description of the escapement in the book linked below, page 33 and 34
I had to adjust a little for the 3d printed version at 5 time the size from the book
The pin pallets are 1mm piano wire
Replaced the impulse jewel on the balance wheel with 2 1mm steel pins
The watch is 144 mm in diameter and runs for up to 8 hours
Links to books about the history of the original, including a detailed biography of G.F. Roskopf and a thorough study of his watch
