Decline an Offer to Get More Money? Yes.
Sometimes you have to decline top tech company offers in order for them to come back and gives you a better one. In this video I break down a real life example of how a recruiter initially told my client that the best she could do was $275K for a Sr. Program manager role (tech L6). We got the number up to $300K total comp, but then walked away. Amazon then came back and opened their checkbook with an email that effectively said “what’s your number, we will get it approved by the VP” Ultimately my client decided not to take the role at Amazon for a number of reasons which I get into in the video.
