Codefresh, now part of Octopus Deploy, recently launched GitOps Cloud to handle environment promotion declaratively, reducing reliance on traditional CI/CD patterns. Dan emphasized the need to separate CI from CD, warning against conflating the two. He highlighted the growing scale of Kubernetes usage—organizations now commonly operate thousands of clusters—and how scaling brings performance and Git server load challenges. To address this, Codefresh developed a scalable, zero-trust Argo control plane. Dan also discussed GitOps readiness, stressing that success requires organizational discipline, robust Git practices, and thoughtful scaling strategies.
