Continuity Editing, Part 4: Intensified Continuity, Chaos Cinema, and Mad Max: Fury Road
In this fourth and final installment of the series on continuity editing, we'll look at an academic debate about the state of continuity editing in recent years, especially as it pertains to the increasing pace of editing in action cinema. To examine the issue, we'll look at Mad Max: Fury Road as a case study. Is the film a good example of what David Bordwell calls "intensified continuity," or is it a good example of what Matthias Stork calls "chaos cinema?"
