Cirrus Announces SR Series G7+ with Safe Return Emergency Autoland| Cirrus SR G7+ Aircraft 2025-2026
Cirrus (Cirrus Aircraft Ltd.) today announced the new SR Series G7+ featuring Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland, the world’s first FAA-approved autonomous emergency landing system for single-engine piston aircraft from Garmin®. With the integration of this technology, anyone in the cabin can activate Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland with the touch of a button in an emergency and command the aircraft to divert to a nearby suitable airport and land autonomously. This advancement in aviation safety provides pilots and passengers of the world’s best-selling high-performance single-engine piston aircraft with the option to make an automatic emergency landing in the event of a pilot incapacitation or similar in-flight emergency. Cirrus is currently shipping the SR Series G7+ with Safe Return™ Emergency Autoland. Safe Return™ Emergency Auto Landing uses advanced algorithms and sensors to autonomously fly to the nearest suitable airport, notify air traffic control, communicate with passengers, monitor terrain, obstacles and weather conditions, and then safely land the aircraft, bring it to a complete stop and shut down the engine. The SR Series G7+ offers more new features, including Automatic Database Updates enabled by Cirrus IQ PRO™ for pilot convenience, Runway Occupancy Awareness for safety, and Intelligent Pitot Heating powered by the Perspective Touch+™ flight deck to reduce pilot workload. These features, combined with Safe Return™ Emergency Auto-Landing and the company’s signature Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®), introduce the SR Series G7+, a rugged aircraft equipped with advanced technology, automation and safety innovations. The Safe Return™ Emergency Auto-Landing system uses a combination of advanced sensors, sophisticated algorithms and automatic flight control systems to autonomously land the aircraft safely without pilot intervention. With the push of a button, the system takes control of the aircraft, communicates with air traffic control, navigates to the nearest suitable airport while avoiding terrain and adverse weather conditions, autonomously lands the aircraft and comes to a complete stop, shuts down the engine and stops the propeller so passengers can safely exit the aircraft. Easy Activation: In an emergency, the pilot or passengers can activate the system and initiate Safe Return™ Emergency Auto-Landing by pressing a button located in the center of the aircraft’s cabin ceiling. Advanced Algorithms: The system is powered by advanced onboard sensors and algorithms that adapt to changing conditions, navigate the airspace, calculate runway parameters and detect real-time weather and terrain conditions. Fully Automatic Flight Control: Safe Return™ Emergency Auto Landing autonomously controls the autopilot and engine to fly the aircraft and execute a safe landing sequence. Air Traffic Control: The system is in constant communication with air traffic control during flight, automatically switching to different frequencies as the aircraft progresses to the most suitable airport. Safe Return™ Emergency Auto Landing can be activated both manually and automatically. Anyone in the cabin can activate Safe Return™ Emergency Auto Landing with the push of a button. If the pilot is alone or cannot be activated manually, Safe Return™ Emergency Auto Landing is designed to activate automatically if the system determines that the pilot is flying erratically or is unresponsive. Automatic Database Updates powered by Cirrus IQ PRO™ with the SR Series G7+ are now available to connected aircraft owners through a subscription in the Cirrus IQ™ app. Automatic Database Updates allow owners to receive automatic avionics database updates over Wi-Fi or LTE to provide the most up-to-date and accurate data for navigation. These updates can occur when the aircraft is powered off and the owner is away from the aircraft. When the aircraft is powered on, the underlying databases are automatically synchronized between compatible avionics. Cirrus has added Safe Return™ Emergency Auto-Landing to the SR Series G7+, allowing pilots and their passengers to travel with greater confidence knowing that their aircraft has the ability to respond autonomously in the event of an in-flight emergency.
