There are 7 traditional Lunar New Year dishes that Chinese people cook for the Lunar Nee Year, we wanted to show you just one of these to celebrate it with you, so todays recipe is our favourite way of making spring rolls, massive traditional and named after the spring festival itself, they’re also shaped like gold bars and deep fried to they go golden brown, again to signify gold, which is Chinese culture is huge. Ingredients
Chicken
1 chicken breast
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp MSG
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/6 tsp white pepper
1 tsp dark soy sauce
Pinch bicarb
1 tbsp veg oil
Finishing
15-18 8 inch spring roll wrappers
Plain flour + water
1 medium carrot
10g fresh ginger
1/6 sweet heart cabbage
2 dried shiitake mushrooms
Handful bamboo shoots
Handful water chestnuts
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 tsp MSG
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 heaped tsp garlic powder
Veg oil to deep fry in
Dipping sauce
2 tbsp dark soy
2 tbsp seasoning sauce
1 small clove garlic
10 blades chives
1/2 green and red chillies (optional)
