About a year ago, I did the initial quick review of this fairly new Canon lens. A good friend was kind enough to lend me his copy for a short while and recently I purchased my own copy. So having put it through its paces in Patagonia, I thought I'd do a little follow up review. Essentially this is an incredibly versatile lens that comes in at a very decent price. No, it's not part of the L-series nor is it particularly fast with a maximum aperture of F9. And although I'd reach for a faster lens in low light scenarios , it is a great piece of kit that will likely find its way into many camera bags. The lens has an incredible zoom range, it's stabilized, it is fairly light, easy to travel with and both the focus speed and the sharpness are more than acceptable.
