Cannonball Adderley Radio Interview - 1968
Julian ‘Cannonball’ Adderley interview by Dan McClosky – 1968. Cannonball Adderley was a superb and very soulful alto saxophonist and composer. He was strongly influenced by Charlie Parker and often played in a similar fashion but he was able to create his own sound. He worked with Miles Davis and played along with John Coltrane on Miles greatest jazz album, Kind of Blue, truly one of the very best jazz records of all time. Cannonball led a group along with his brother, trumpet player Nat Adderley, for many years and they left us with outstanding records, well worth checking out on YouTube. This brief interview was made in 1968 for Dan McClosky’s jazz radio program. Mr. Adderley passed away at far too young an age in 1975 at age 46.
