Canada's Premiers speak to reporters ahead of D.C. tariff talks – February 12, 2025
Canada’s premiers speak with reporters in Washington, D.C. ahead of talks with U.S. lawmakers to make the case against imposing U.S. tariffs. All 13 provincial and territorial leaders are in the U.S. capital to promote the Canada-U.S. trade relationship in the face of ongoing tariff threats from President Donald Trump.
Taking questions are Doug Ford (Ontario), François Legault (Quebec), Susan Holt (New Brunswick), Danielle Smith (Alberta), and Wab Kinew (Manitoba).
Premier Ford comments on the possibility that 25% U.S. tariffs on aluminum and steel might be stacked on top of other 25% tariffs. Premier Legault discusses the importance of maintaining the supply management system for Quebec dairy farmers.
