Can YOU Hear The Difference?? Vocal Mic CHALLENGE (Slate vs. Sony)

Slate ML-1 or Sony C800g vocal mic shootout. Can you hear the difference between the plugin emulation and the original classic vocal mic? Reid Stefan Realest puppet in the game does a blind shootout to hear the difference between a $10,000 vocal mic and a $800 mic/plugin emulation. The Slate ML-1 is a transparent vocal mic that is designed to be used with the Virtual Tubes module inside the Slate Virtual Mix Rack. Considering how close the Slate ML-1 sound to the Sony C800g, I would recommend the ML1 as the best vocal mic under $1000. Technical Details about this shootout: 1. I am using the FG-800 preset in VirtualMixRack for this shootout because it emulates newer "brighter" modern Sony C800G which most similarly matches the Sony I own. ML-1 also includes a software preset called FG-800m that emulates a "well broken in" and "warmer" classic Sony C800g from the 1990s-2000s. 2. Both Microphones are plugged directly into XLR mic inputs on my Apollo X8. Slate staff personally assured me the emulation will be accurate even though i'm not using a SlateDigital audio interface. Apollo interfaces also have extremely transparent preamps to (match their similar mic modeling plugins.) Realistically, most ML-1 users are powering their mic with an Apollo interface rather than Slate interface, so i wanted my test to reflect the most common setup.
