Britain’s railways are a mess and people are fed up.
Three in ten of all UK train journeys were delayed - according to the latest quarterly figures - and there were more cancellations than the same time last year.
Experts say it’s the same old issues: Trains are getting older, they’re too expensive to maintain, and services can’t handle the sheer volume of passengers.
But back in power after 14 years, Labour claims to have the solution: nationalisation. And it’s been announced South Western Railways, C2C and Greater Anglia will all be renationalised in 2025.
We analyse whether their approach will fix the UK’s broken railways.
